Kirsi Luther is a litigator with experience in high-stakes civil and criminal matters, complex investigations, and appeals. Since joining the firm in 2022, she has worked on a wide range of federal litigation, including major trials and novel regulatory actions.
Kirsi was a member of the trial team that secured an acquittal after an eight-week trial in the Eastern District of New York in the DOJ’s FIFA bribery prosecution. She also helped defend a client in the SEC’s first “shadow-trading” enforcement action—closely watched litigation testing the boundaries of insider-trading theory. In addition, Kirsi has obtained successful results on appeal before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and recently served as second chair in a five-week civil trial. Her strengths as a litigator include skilled motion practice, complex discovery, witness preparation, and trial strategy in matters with significant legal and reputational exposure.
Before joining the firm, Kirsi spent five years serving the federal judiciary. She clerked for the Honorable Sidney R. Thomas of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and for the Honorable Dana L. Christensen of the U.S. District Court for the District of Montana.
Kirsi earned her J.D. from the University of Montana, where she graduated in the top 5% of her class and served as co-Editor-in-Chief of the Montana Law Review. Prior to law school, she received an M.F.A. in fiction writing from the University of Montana and a B.A. in English and creative writing from the University of Iowa.
