Alleged Medicaid Fraud Investigation Closed with No Charges

The United States Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California and the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General closed a six-year investigation into the billing practices of Planned Parenthood. The investigation, which was triggered by a whistleblower lawsuit brought under the False Claims Act, focused on claims for reimbursement submitted under a government-funded family planning program. The government had indicated that it could seek recovery of more than $50 million in payments from Planned Parenthood, but closed the investigation with no repayment demand.
