The People of the State of California ex rel Edmund G. Brown Jr., Attorney General of the State of California v. Robert Rizzo
Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Ralph W. Dau dismissed the lawsuit filed by the Attorney General against former City of Bell Chief Administrative Officer Robert Rizzo.  The case was dismissed with prejudice after the Court ruled that legislators cannot be sued for passing ordinances that award themselves high salaries.  In September 2010, then-Atty. Gen. Jerry Brown sued Robert Rizzo to recover funds from him and other City of Bell officials whose salaries were among the highest in the nation, but the brief filed by Mr. Rizzo's counsel established that Mr. Rizzo had absolute immunity for the legislative actions that were the subject of the Attorney General's lawsuit.  The case has been dismissed permanently and cannot be re-filed.
