Amy Hinkley
 
 
Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Hinkley gained a breadth of both criminal and civil law experience. First, Ms. Hinkley clerked at the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office, Hardcore Gang Division, in Van Nuys, where she assisted in preparation for felony jury trials and drafted numerous motions. Second, Ms. Hinkley gained civil litigation experience by working one-on-one with the Staff Attorney at a nonprofit environmental organization. Ms. Hinkley worked on a variety of water quality-related lawsuits, assisting with civil discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation.
 
While at Pepperdine University School of Law, Ms. Hinkley was a Literary Citation Editor of the Pepperdine Law Review. Her article, Scrutinize This!: The Questionable Constitutionality of Gender-Conscious Admissions Policies Utilized by Public Universities, was published in Volume 37 of the Pepperdine Law Review. Ms. Hinkley also was the research assistant to Professor Anthony X. McDermott. She researched issues in the area of private land use restrictions as a barrier to environmentally-sound practices, and prepared summaries of textbook chapters on a variety of real property law subjects. Ms. Hinkley also participated in Pepperdine’s International Study Abroad Program in London, where she took a constitutional law course from Dean Kenneth W. Starr.
 
Ms. Hinkley graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 2001 where she majored in Psychology. After earning her B.A. from U.C. Berkeley, Ms. Hinkley gained a variety of professional experience before attending law school. First, she worked for a nonprofit organization in a group home as a counselor for at-risk youth. She then served as the organization’s Human Resources Payroll and Benefits Coordinator where she was responsible for all aspects of the payroll, group insurance, and other employee benefits for more than 400 employees. Ms. Hinkley then gained experience in the for-profit arena working for a business management firm. She worked jointly with the firm’s partners, account managers, tax accountants, and bookkeepers to provide financial management services to prestigious entertainment industry clients.
