Elizabeth J. Lee is a civil and criminal trial attorney with extensive experience in both state and federal courts around the country. Ms. Lee has handled hundreds of state and federal criminal cases and has experience with criminal trials, preparing defense investigations, evidentiary hearings, and arguing dispositive motions. She has represented defendants in a wide variety of criminal matters, including fraud, money laundering, theft, smuggling, false statements, identity theft, forgery, immigration crimes, drug crimes, and homicide.

Early in her career, Ms. Lee worked on a high profile Ponzi scheme matter in federal court in which she fought to overturn an order of detention of a high net-worth defendant. Ms. Lee also has experience handling internal investigations involving matters such as suspected securities fraud and environmental crimes.

Ms. Lee has also represented plaintiffs and defendants throughout the United States in a wide array of civil litigation matters, including antitrust, employment, fraud, First Amendment, environmental, patent, healthcare, wrongful death, real estate, contract, product liability, and other business disputes. She has successfully drafted and argued numerous case-dispositive motions in state and federal courts around the country. Examples include: winning a motion for summary judgment for a television network on First Amendment freedom of speech issues in Arizona state court, obtaining an order of dismissal with prejudice of a number of state and federal law claims against a Fortune 100 insurance company in federal court, and securing a temporary restraining order on behalf of a commercial lending institution in federal court.

Ms. Lee has also presented webinars to national audiences on subjects such as antitrust, the False Claims Act, and white collar crime in the employment law context. She has been published a number of times on topics such as ethics, globalization, compliance, and criminal issues faced by in-house counsel and compliance officers. Ms. Lee speaks Spanish and has represented both English and Spanish-speaking clients.

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Lee was a civil litigation associate at Ballard Spahr LLP and served as an Assistant Federal Public Defender in the Southern District of Texas and in the District of Arizona. Ms. Lee earned her law degree from Northwestern University School of Law. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Bradley University, where she majored in English Literature with a minor in Business Management. After graduating from Northwestern, Ms. Lee clerked for the Honorable Michael D. Ryan on the Arizona Supreme Court.
